Whether it’s a landscape, still life or portrait, I love the challenge of focusing on what at first glance would be considered simple and ordinary, and then attempting to depict the emotions I feel about them onto canvas. Using a palette knife has helped me get closer to attaining this goal. Using this method I am able to produce cleaner, brighter colors to create more impressionistic paintings. In addition I can achieve energetic impasto strokes that create a three dimensional quality that gives excitement and depth to the painting.
